My Current Scent of Choice.

Hey there lovely readers! I hope you all had a great holiday season with your families and friends. Happy new year! It’s the year 2017! Can’t believe it’s 20 freaking 17! I am so very excited about this year of new possibilities, fresh starts, and a whole year dedicated to having a beautiful adventure with my husband.

Whatever you plan on doing this year, I know there is nothing better than a great scent to help you achieve your day. Getting ready in the morning consists of many things that I enjoy doing, and one of them is finally getting to spritz on my current favorite perfume. My husband gifted me “Sofía” by Sofía Vergara. I absolutely love it! It’s just the right mix of sweet and musk. However, it’s not too musky that you’re head might start hurting. It’s just perfect. I put it on and instantly feel ready to go! It’s a very womanly scent. Very sexy as well. You have to go out and try it for yourself.

Let me know what your favorite scent at the moment is! And does it help you feel ready to tackle the day??

Thanks for stopping by!

So, it’s been a while that i’ve taken the time to write a blog. A lot has happened since my last post. I finally found my groove at work and things are going great. I had been so busy planning our wedding that I never got around to even updating here. Well, the wedding happened! I am now MARRIED!

I went through a lot to get here. A lot of heart break. Not just with other guys, but just in life. My life to this point was such a crazy ride. One that I will always look back on and smile. Good and bad. So now i’m here. Married. It feels so amazing to know that God answers prayers. He answered this one for me. He’s always known my heart of wanting to be married, working a job with flexibility to be able to spend time with my husband. Living in a cute little apartment that we are so blessed to have. The quaintness of it is so endearing. I love being home. Even more so when he’s here.

Marriage is hard work they say. I wouldn’t say that. It’s work, but not hard when you know you would do any thing to make your spouse happy. That’s easy.  I just think life is hard. That’s the real bully. My husband and I have already seen how life can be cruel, and even more so how the enemy can be crueler. Yet, we cling to each other.

I’m finding out that’s a piece of what it takes to make it strong. Sticking together and even more so, loving unconditionally.

I love being married. Sure we are still newlyweds and have so much to go through. But having my best friend walk side by side with me through life is so nice!

Our wedding was beautiful. Perfect. Everything went by so fast that when we got home we immediately began to reminisce. I wish that night could have lasted a lifetime. I felt like a queen. I never have people do things for me. I never sit and just let everyone else do the things that need to get done, and that day, I finally got to do that.

I loved it all. The perfect weather that we hardly get here. The lights we sat under as laughter and flashes of memories were being captured. The roses in my hand and the curls in my hair. The look on his face when he saw me. The looks and the smiles we received all night. The navy blue suit that fit him perfectly. The tears that guests had in their eyes. The music playing that was being drowned out by the love that was in the air. The cake, bubbles, hugs, lace, hydrangeas, kisses, vows, rings, it was all perfect. It was the best day of my life. A milestone in life has come and gone.

Now, we live. We live life and fall in love all over again each day. We make plans, and not follow them because that’s way more fun. We one day much later have a baby, and watch their life evolve. We grow old together and enjoy every bit of this life. This life.

This beautiful life to live. Together. Forever.

Bad Days.

Today was one of those days.

Just a bad day.

I know you all can agree. We’ve all had those. The days that plain suck.

I’ve been MIA for a while and that’s due to me getting adjusted with my new job with Merle Norman. I can say that I really enjoy my job. It’s fun and i’m really getting the chance to better my makeup application skills. One thing that has been hard is that I took a pay cut. Doesn’t it just suck when the one dream you finally get brave enough to go after, makes you even more broke than before!? I’m really trying to stay positive. I know it will get better, and I know I have to work harder to get to where I want to go. It’s gonna take time. I know that. I just can’t allow myself to accept the fact that I have to work a job that is not who I am or what I represent to make money. I’d rather work a job that has me struggling at first to make ends meet and be happy than working in a cubical (I just don’t want that, if thats your job and you love it.. AWESOME) and be miserable.

I don’t know how to ask for help. I’ve been financially independent since I was 16. When I wanted things, I worked and then got them. When I needed something, I worked then got it done. I’m now learning to ask for support from my fiancé. It’s hard, but maybe this is just needed in order to make our soon to be marriage stronger. I don’t know, I just don’t like the feeling of asking for things. I’m “Ms. I Got This”.

Sorry for the vent sesh.

Days like this I just want to listen to acoustic music and stay wrapped in my blanket. Drink coffee, stare out the window. Maybe go outside and take a deep breath of air, exhale and let it all go. Pray and talk with God.

I guess it’s ok to have days like this. The feel sorry for yourself days.

Hopefully tomorrow is better.

Here’s my current listen. Goodnight.

Tuesday Tip!

YES! I love this! When all else fails, and you feel like you don’t know what you’re doing just fake it till you make it. I grab my coffee and just go with the flow. There is this other saying that I like as well… Put on some lipstick and handle it! Isn’t that the truth! My Tuesday Tip is simple, do what you do best and do it as best as you can! Today concentrate on getting things done. Make a check list and at your own pace, check one thing off at a time. If you don’t check off everything don’t sweat it! Save that list for tomorrow! Be your own type of awesome today. Hustle as hard as you can, and be proud of yourself!

You got this!!

Fresh Start! (Update)

Hello all! Hope your days have been pretty incredible for you! I have been pretty busy going through a transition in my life. I got a NEW JOB! I am now a happy employee working at a local spa that carries Merle Norman Cosmetics. It’s such an incredible opportunity for me since I get the chance to learn so many new techniques with working in the makeup industry. At this spa, the services range from makeup to facials to massages and waxing and mani/pedis. It’s such a beautiful place to be working at and I could not be more happy to be doing this.

I believe in following your dreams even if that means being out of your comfort zone. I knew it was time for me to change paths, it just had to be the right time. The store hours are also very accommodating. I knew I couldn’t have a job that was long hours and that I would be needed 24/7. Since I will be getting married soon, this schedule allows me time to have time with my soon to be husband. I LOVE IT!

Here’s to finding what makes your heart happy, and going after it! My next goal is to become a free lance makeup artist!

Quick Post!

So it’s been a little while that i’ve posted. To quickly catch you up, I was super busy helping coordinate my church’s yearly youth & young adult conference, Outpour! Every year is such a crazy hectic time. Planning for such a big event is a lot of work. The LONG days and short nights really paid off though. We got to see countless lives run to Jesus, and we believe lives were transformed!

Well, a lot is changing in my life! I am so excited to be sharing the new and exciting things that are coming soon with you all. I will be doing a post on everything within the week. Keep an eye out for that!

Here’s some inspiration for you below that I have been feeling lately. Hope you have an amazing week!

Whatever it is that is changing in your life, know that it’s changing for a reason. It’s up to you to make those changes GOOD!

Skin Care Routine

My favorite part of the day is getting home from a long day and taking off all my makeup! I’m sure we can all agree!

There is just something about taking off your makeup and feeling refreshed. I am going to share with you my everyday skincare routine/line. NOTE: These items are based off of what works for my skin type. I would say my skin varies on the season from Dry to Combination. When in winter I tend to get way more dry skinned and find myself having to use more oil based products to help. Other than that i’d say I have combination skin being that where I live is primarily HOT. I tend to only get oily around my forehead and chin. So, with that being said try to find products that are going to help you and your skin through any changes. These items have become staple for me. They are inexpensive and have been working for me for the last 6 months to a year. Always keep in mind that you need to properly allow your skin to get accustomed to a new cleanser. Give yourself more than two weeks to see a change.

So let’s get right into this lineup!

When I get home and am ready to take off all my makeup I reach for my most beloved possession, my makeup remover wipes! Every women loves these. When you’re just so tired that you just want to wipe everything off in one swipe! I almost always reach for the Yesto Tomatoes blemish cleansing wipes.  I love these because they take off my makeup, but are also healing my skin of any impurities. They fight breakouts and acne which I do struggle with from time to time. These babies are also very gentle on my skin. Who would have thought that a tomato based product would be so loved. 2241525

Next thing I do is go in with my face cleanser. I use the Neutrogena naturals fresh cleansing + makeup remover. This product really works well with taking off any extra makeup left behind from the wipes. It makes my skin feel soft and refreshed. To be honest I do feel my face a little tight after the use, but once I moisturize i’m all set. I recommend this product for those who are in a rush to just wash their face quickly before bed. 6802518_600x600

So before bed I moisturize. I can not go to bed without doing this step. Since I can easily suffer from really dry skin this is a must for me. So what I have used for the past year and a half or so, is Cetaphil’s moisturizing cream. This will last you SO long! All I use is a finger full to use all over my face and even my neck. It’s a thicker consistency so it’s not going to leave you feeling sticky or slimy. I also use this before I apply makeup. It sinks into your skin pretty quickly so you are not going to have to wait to get started with your makeup application like some moisturizers can do.  13376159

Now for when I rise and shine! I have gone through almost 3 bottles of this cleanser. It’s the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Boosters facial cleansers. It is so so so AMAZING! It is by far my FAVORITE cleanser EVER!! I love the way it smells, I love the way it leaves my face feeling, I love how my skin looks after. I just love everything about it. I use this to really wake me up in the mornings and wash away any oils and residue that may have accumulated over night. I HIGHLY recommend it!! Cleanser

The last product I will be talking about is one that I use every other day or even every other two days. Since I don’t exfoliate on a daily basis. It’s the Acne Stress Control scrub from Neutrogena. I really enjoy the texture of this since it’s not too harsh on the skin. It does a great job at helping to prevent acne that comes along with stress. I like the smell and the cooling effect it gives. I typically use this in the shower so combined with the steam… It just feels so good! Try it for yourself!6805325_600x600

I hope these products intrigued you to want to go and try them yourself. If you have already tried them, let me know what you think!

Have a great day!

Get To Know Me!

Get to know me.jpg

Hello there wonderful people! I decided to write a little bit of who I am so that you all can get a better idea of who is writing these blog posts.

My name is Mindy Rodriguez for starters, I am 25 years old, I’m engaged and soon going to be Mindy Serrato come October. I am the youngest of 3, and will be the last one to leave the house of my parents. I am a Christian, meaning I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe that a relationship with Him comes before anything else. Am I perfect? NO WAY! Do I only listen to Christian music and only watch the local faith based channel. Nope. I am an imperfect person following a perfect God. If you want to know or hear more about my faith, please let me know, I will gladly do a post on that.

I work as the Administrative Assistant at my local church. My church meets the standards to be considered a mega church, so we always have so much work to do and one event after another to prepare for. On Sunday’s my job turns into a service coordinator – meaning I help make sure services run smoothly. I walk around with a walkie clipped to me at all times and an earpiece in as well. My wardrobed as taken a back seat because of these walkies since I have to clip it in to my pants. Lol! I haven’t been able to wear a dress in such a long time to church, but no worries, I work that whole “hipster” vibe just fine.

My fiancé is Moisés, he is the lead guitarist and assistant worship director for the Worship Team. He is an amazing guitarist! He rocks long hair and a man bun so well. The picture below is a little old so his hair much longer now. We are so excited to be getting married and starting our lives as a married couple. He is such a supportive partner. He makes my worst days some of my best. I love his passion for the things he likes. He is an amazing man and I am so grateful to become his wife. WOW, i’m gonna be a WIFE! IMG_2480.JPG

I consider myself someone who cleans up well. I mean that in the sense that my day to day look is very simple. Jeans, a simple easy to wear blouse, flats, sandals, or even cute little shoes, and light makeup. But I know I can really doll it up! I love makeup and know how to use it. I think we can all agree that a simple look is sometimes the best look. I hope to one day be able to become a makeup artist. I would love to be able to do makeup for people as a side job and be able to share with women that true beauty comes before all the makeup.

I love and adore my family! I have a nephew and niece that are the absolute cutest. They make me a happier person when I need a little joy in my days. I am so thankful for my parents that have always provided for us even when times were tough. My sister was always like a mother hen to me and my brother growing up, she helped us in ways she didn’t even realize she was. She is the one that blessed us with the kiddos. My brother and I are very close. We grew up always playing together and sticking close to one another. I call him my twin because we have that special connection. He is married now and I am grateful that his wife is my friend and not just my sister-in-law.

I think I am a pretty easy going person, I don’t take life to seriously, I find joy in the little things, and I try to always make the best of what life hands me. I started this blog as a way to simply express myself and share things that I enjoy. If you find my posts making you happy and smile, then my job is done. In case you don’t know.. I started a Youtube channel. It’s just been a couple of short vlogs for now, but I want it to go in a certain direction once I’m married. I know Rome wasn’t built in a day so I am just being patient with it. In due time I hope to have a great and entertaining channel!

I want to thank you for reading this post in full. I hope you get a sense of who I am. There is so much more to me, but I know those things will be shown in future posts. I hope you have a wonderful day, night, or whatever time of day it is for you.
